A French Provincial Dresser

I know this post is no big deal since everyone who blogs has painted, distressed, etc., etc., etc. a French Provincial dresser; however, I am very happy with the way mine turned out.  I found this dresser about two weeks ago on craigslist for $50.  I was able to get it for $30 and when I went to pick it up, the lady told me she had found the mirror so I got a mirror and a dresser for $30 - you can't beat that!

I took it home, gave it a light sanding and then I primed it.  I let it sit in my garage for a few days and then I spray painted it silver and glazed it.  I hope you like it.

Here are a few pictures of the before and during:

  1. Great job on your dresser. I have tried my hand at re-doing a dresser. It looked great when I was done but boy was it a lotta work. Yours turned out very nice.

  3. I really like how that turned out. The finish you used on your dresser is very unique. You're certainly right about there being a lot of painted furniture in blogland. Sometimes I wonder if in the future there will be any used furniture left to buy that hasn't already been painted! Ha!

  8. Beautiful job, Sandra! I was so excited when I found my dresser and I'm sure you were excited when you found this one. Great deal getting the mirror, too. Love the color you did. The great thing about these dressers is everyone's interpretation of them and I think they always turn out looking great.
